Designs must be submitted by: July 31st, 2016
Winners will be announced in August.
There’s no fee for registration and participation.
Designs will be evaluated on: (out of 100 points)
- design aesthetics (25 points)
- practicality/purposefulness (20 points)
- safety considerations (5 points)
- ease of use (5 points)
- manufacturability/printability (20 points)
- durability (20 points)
- shareability ( 5 points)
True parametric CAD tools (such as Fusion 360, Inventor, Solidworks, Onshape, Catia, ProE, etc) that can export STEP and IGES files are greatly preferred and will score higher in judging than non-parametric or mesh-based models from SketchUp, Blender, or tinkerCAD, though mesh-entries will be allowed as well. source files will allow more designers to iterate on and modify the design, which is ultimately more valuable both to the community and to those we try to serve.

In order to participate you must agree to pick an open source license for your design. We’ll have some more information on the appropriate Creative Commons license soon.
